Fall Fun

Hey Guys! Halloween and October has just left us, I can't believe how fast time is flying around these parts! My goodness.

Halloween was fun. We had cupcakes for the little kiddies to decorate as spiders (thanks Martha Stewart!) and candy and hot apple cider and caramel corn! It was a blast. Afterwards the Benjamin house had us over for a late night dance party! What fun, but it most definitely wiped me out.

Saturday we celebrated Nik's birthday at Cygnus 27--a restaurant at the top of the Amway Grand. It was SO fun. The desserts were so intricate and complex, I wish I had a pic for y'all. I got a dessert called "lava" and boy did it look like a very tall volcano. It was yummy, nothing like I've ever tasted before that's for sure.

On the bad news side of things, I got in a car accident last week. I'm fine but my car's not. So that kinda sucks! But I just found out that old roommate Lauren is getting a car so that's one more car that I can borrow! Hooray! Haha. I'm excited for her. She's pretty pumped too.

Mom and dad were up two weekends ago and it was good to see them. We had Fall Music Festival at Calvin and we went shopping the other days. I'm looking forward to going home for Thanksgiving...and to get my hair cut (don't worry just a trim, and maybe a perm? who knows!) It's good to be home once in a while.

Well, not much else is going on. Christina's in town this week, so that will be exciting to hang out with her! I miss that girl so much. What else what else? There's really not a whole lot else going on so I will leave you with this picture of us on Halloween!

October

Hey Guys! It's October already, can you believe it?! I sure can't. Well I will finally post a picture of my quilt like I said I was going to. Here it is:

I hope y'all like it. I worked hard on that baby.

Well today is Sunday and we just got back from church. We (my housemates and I) go to the church right next to our house, Boston Square CRC. It's homey and the people there are really nice. We've been invited over to dinner twice already. And today we're having the pastors over for lunch. The pastors are a married couple. It should be fun. Except that I have to go biking for Australia training and won't be able to enjoy lunch at all, which kind of sucks, but oh well, what can ya do?

Training has been going well. I'm a bit behind the rest of the group so that kind of sucks. Maybe I won't even go today since I went yesterday. I don't know what to do. Oh well. I'll figure something out.

I've got a bit of homework to do today so that's no fun. Kathryn is coming for dinner this next week Friday and sometime this week I get to see Christina so that's WAY exciting. Two of my best friends in one week! Who could ask for anything more?

Welp, I shall leave you now and change into warmer clothes. Our house is freezing! Love to you all!

September

Well, it is now well into the school year! We've had two weeks of classes and they've been great so far! I'm taking Education 202, Health Education, British Literature, Math for the Elementary Ed teacher, and Geography. My favorite so far is Math! It's little kid math but it can be hard sometimes.

Living in a house is super fun. We each take a night to cook so that's definitely been an experience -- a good one that is. Australia training begins today so that should be good. We bike 20 miles today. It's a little wet outside so I hope that they don't cancel it. But I don't think that they will.

I got a tattoo two weeks ago of a little cross made of two nails on the inside of my right ankle. That was pretty exciting! I absolutely LOVE it. I even designed it myself! Plus it didn't hurt too badly, fun stuff.

Welp, my house is holding a mini church service this morning, so I better run. It was good catching up with you guys!

*ps. I finished my quilt. I'll have to put up some pics later when I get the chance! :)

August

Well, we got back from our camping trip last week. It was a blast! It only rained a little bit and we had a ton of fun visiting with Ben. We had campfires every night. One evening we got to watch Ben's softball team win the championship. That was fun. We also went to the Jampot Bakery -- always a good place to get a yummy muffin. We went to some old fort place about two hours away. It was a long drive, and not that exciting. But oh well, it was still good to spend time with the fam. We also went to the Library for dinner where my dad and I accidentally switched meals and didn't notice until halfway through. I ended up liking his better than mine anyway! Haha. So I've been back for about a week now and then in two days I leave for Woody's wedding! I am SO excited. I'm driving down there with three girls from school and back with a guy friend of mine. We're staying in a hotel which will be nice and we'll be there Friday Saturday and Sunday, so it will make for a nice weekend. It will also be nice to get off of work for three days in a row! I just bought some jewelry to match my new dress today, that was fun. Oh and I also went out for dessert with my good friend Megan who was in Washington for the summer. It was good to catch up with her since it had been a while. And in a few weeks my girlfriends and I are hoping to go to Chicago, but I don't know if I can get off of work or not, let's hope so! :) Cuz that should be a fun trip. Welp, that's all I've got for now. I'm going to have some toast and then head off to work. Oh work. Ughh.. Love to you all.

July

Hey everyone. It's midsummer by now. I no longer work at Caffe Tosi, I work at Kilwin's downtown. Caffe Tosi just didn't work out. But now at Kilwin's I'm getting a full 40 hour work week -- so that's been good.

Other than work, I've been to the beach a few times, I've been working out with my mom at South Shore, I've hung out with friends often (when I'm not working nights that is), and I'm working on a T-shirt quilt! I'm so excited about the quilt. I'm doing it double sided with a total of 40 t-shirts! Hokey pete! I didn't know I owned that many! I'm about done with the first side, just a few more layers to sew together and then I can start on the back.

Ben was here last weekend and that was a lot of fun! We had a few bonfires and just kinda hung out. It was SO good to see him. I can't wait for our camping trip. I'm also looking forward to Woody's wedding in Pennsylvania -- if I can find a ride that is, and I need to make it back to work. I hope that all works out okay.

Hmm, well I think I'm going to sew a bit before I go to work tonight. Thanks for reading. Bye for now!

Sum Sum Summertime

Hey All. Well school's over and done with and summer is in full swing. I finally found a job after a few weeks! I was so excited. I am now currently of Caffe Tosi of downtown St. Joseph. I've worked two days total and so far I love it. It's a blast. All of my co-workers are a ton of fun and I'm excited to learn more and more as time goes on.

I haven't been to the beach yet this summer, which is a bummer. It just started being nice out, so I haven't really had much opportunity yet, but I will.

Last weekend my parents and I went to Indianapolis to visit my aunt and uncle. We had a lot of fun. I bought two books while I was there and they're done already. I read For One More Day by Mitch Albom and The Perks of Being a Wallflower. Both of which were very good. Now I just need something else to read! We also went to the zoo! It was SO much fun. I felt like a little kid, but it was a blast. I loved looking at all the various animals. I even got to pet a shark!

There are two things I am really looking forward to this summer: visiting my brother in the UP and Woody's wedding. I can't wait!

Welp, peace and love to you all! I'm outta here.

Dance Guild

Hey guys! I had dance guild last weekend and it was a total blast! Kathryn came up on Friday night and spent the night. We went to The Bitter End after the show for some good coffee. It was a good time. My parents and Kristen came on Saturday night for the show. Overall the show was amazing and I had a blast being in it. Here are some pics:

Second Semester

Welp second semester is most definitely in full swing. Not a whole lot is going on. For those of you who don't know, I finally decided on a major - elementary education with a double minor in Math and Language Arts. Wahoo! I really want to teach middle school algebra, I think that'd be so fun! (yeah I know I'm a dork). So yeah, other than that life's been pretty ho-hum. It's almost the weekend, so that's exciting. And we signed the lease for our house this week, so that made me feel old (and mature too!). ...so yup... Hope y'all are having a great day! :)

Birthday Bananza

A while ago it was the birthday bananza at the Carlson household. Ben's turned 23 on the 13th, mom's birthday was on the 15th and I turned 20 on the 17th! I can't believe I'm no longer a teenager! It was really nice, my parents came up and took me and my friends out to dinner at Olive Garden and dessert at Coldstone. What a fun night. Then afterwards I went home with my parents for the weekend to relax at home, which was really nice. Here's a pic from Olive Garden:

Addiction

Interim has been going along swimmingly. My class is rather dull and the days are long so I have been filling them with my most recent addiction:

Oh Gilmore girls, how I love thee, let me count the ways. I'm officially halfway through season two on my way to season three. I love it! I absolutely love it. Hooray!

Christmas Break

...is over and I am very sad about that. Here's a recap:

Ben's Graduation

Dinner at the Carpenter's

Dinner at the Carlson's

Girls Get-Together at Megan's

All in all, it was a fun and nice and relaxing break - complete with a bubble bath and all! :)
