Hello All:

I got my hair cut...again. Hahaha. I've gone crazy! :) But no, it's just a short pixie cut. It's cute and fun. But I have decided to grow it out again, so that things can be done with it when I am a bridesmaid...

What, bridesmaid you say? Who's getting married?! Why my big brother Ben of course! To the love of his life, Kristen Koljonen! And I am SO excited for them. I cannot wait. :) Hooray! The wedding is most likely around mid July, so that should be fun!

What else is new? I finished my very first semester as a graduate student at Grand Valley. We haven't gotten grades back yet but I'm fairly confident that I did well in most of my classes, so that's good.

I'm still working at the hotel...kind of. The Monday before Thanksgiving, our hotel had a small fire in one of the rooms (a guest turned the heater up to high and left something sitting on the heater itself) and it caught fire. So we have been shut down for almost three weeks now. I still check people in, but then we ship them out to other hotels. It gets kinda lonely being the only one here, and scary at times as well! But oh well, what can ya do?

Ben and Kristen are coming home for a bit over Christmas break, I am looking forward to that! And I will be back and forth between Grand Rapids and St. Joe because of work. But because I worked on Thanksgiving day, I get Christmas day off. I think I still have to work Christmas Eve, but I should be able to get home for the actual day of Christmas. So praise God for that.

My roommate and I just recently did some redecorating in our room. She bought us wall words, the words that you put on the wall and so now we have a Bible verse on our wall--Rejoice in the Lord Always. So that's neat. And we put up a mirror and some flowers and a candle. Its very cute. This is my roommate (and my new hair!)

But yeah...there's not much else that is new. I will keep you posted however. Hope all is well with you all! to you..

Beautiful - Mercy Me

Some days are hard. Some days just make you want to give up. But just remember that you're beautiful. Thanks Kelsey for sharing this song with me when I needed it most.

Days will come when you don't have the strength
When all you hear is you're not worth anything
Wondering if you ever could be loved
And if they truly saw your heart, they'd see too much

You're beautiful
You're beautiful
You are made for so much more than all of this
You're beautiful
You're beautiful
You are treasured, you are sacred, you are his
You're beautiful

Praying that you have the heart to fight
"Cause you are more than what is hurting you tonight
For all the lies you've held inside so long
They are nothing in the shadow of the cross

You're beautiful
You're beautiful
You are made for so much more than all of this
You're beautiful
You're beautiful
You are treasured, you are sacred, you are his
You're beautiful.

Before you ever took a breath
Long before the world began
Of all the wonders He possessed
There was one more precious
Of all the earth and skies above
You're the one He madly loves enough to die

You're beautiful
You're beautiful in His eyes

You're beautiful
You are made for so much more than all of this
You're beautiful
You are treasured, you are sacred, you are his
You're beautiful

You're beautiful
You are made for so much more than all of this
You're beautiful
You're beautiful
You are treasured, you are sacred, you are his

New Times Two!

I am new times two. Haha. As in, I added to my tattoo and I got a hair cut!

The tattoo has my favorite verse in my handwriting, Psalm 18:1 which says "I love you oh Lord my strength"

I lost about 8-10 inches! Crazy huh? I just felt spontaneous. Haha, and I don't regret it one bit!

So yeah, that's me, new times two. Other than that not much else is new. I have a huge paper due at the beginning of November that I have yet to start on. I am working 32 hour weeks and attempting to keep up with full time school at the same time. It's been a challenge, but I'm surviving thus far.

Halloween is coming up next weekend! Mom and I sewed an Alice in Wonderland costume, so that should be fun. I'm looking forward to that. Also, Sharlee Coffman's engagement party is Saturday so that should be fun as well.

Hmm. So yeah, aside from that, nothing else is new! But I hope all is well with you folks and yeah! Love to you my friends.

Cause I'm Free...Free Falling!

The title is due to the fact that life is good, I'm free in God's grace, and it is now the season of fall!

Life has been fantastic since I last posted. Em's wedding was beautiful and I had so much fun dancing the night away. I also finished reading the Bible in 90 days, so that was fantastic. I've been camping three times since I last wrote--such fun each time! The last time I went was this weekend, so cold, but amazing none-the-less.

Work has been going well. I still love my boss and fellow employees. School is keeping me busy along with work. Right now I'm working 32 hours a week and going to school full time. So it's kinda crazy around these parts, but with God's strength, I will manage.

I'm adding onto my tattoo most likely tomorrow--so I am pumped about that. I'm going to add a dove and the reference to one of my favorite Bible verses, Psalm 18:1 which says "I love you, oh Lord, my strength." Pretty sweet eh? Haha.

I joined a Christian dating site. I've gone on a few dates thus far, but nothing that's stood out. I'm still a member for another two weeks, so we'll see. I trust that God will provide for me when I am ready--I just thought that it would be kinda fun.

I went to ArtPrize this past weekend. That was a blast. Beautiful and odd pieces. I didn't get to see a whole lot of it, but what I did see, I enjoyed immensely.

Well, I'd best get on to my homework for the day. I've got class tonight from 6-9. Such fun. Haha. Hope all is well with you!

love to you my friends.

Sweet sweet summertime!

Hey Everyone!

I know I know, it's been a while. Sorry about that. Let me just give you a little update on my life as of late. The Griggs girls are now the Birchcrest other words, we found a house and successfully moved out and in. It was a grueling process, but its done and we love our new house! Despite a few glitches (ants, sinks that leak, lights that don't work etc...) we love it!

I graduated and got accepted into Grand Valley's social work grad program! I start this fall! I am SO excited, yet very very nervous. I don't have many details yet but that's where I'll be for the next two years...I can't wait.

What else what else. Oh my knee--it has stopped hurting, but that might be because I haven't been running in a while. I did run two miles yesterday, I'm trying to ease my way back into it, praying that it doesn't start hurting again, but we shall see.

Graduation was a beautiful day. My mom's got all those pictures, otherwise I'd post some. But yeah, it was pretty warm out May 22, but it was still nice. (except that my new shoes made my toes bleed! Let me just say I pray for the person who gets those shoes from Goodwill! Haha).

I got a job as well! I am now a front desk attendant at a Best Western. It's great! I've been working for about two and a half weeks now and I'm getting the hang of it. I love my boss and the other employees, so that's been fun.

I joined a small group at Ada Bible Church and we've been meeting weekly, and that's been a positive experience in my life. They are actually coming over to my house tonight and I'm excited to show off our new house and everything.

I'm doing the 90 day bible this summer--that's one of my summer goals. I'm half a day behind at this point, but for the most part I'm doing a fairly good job of keeping up with it if I do say so myself. The plan is to read 12 pages a day which takes anywhere from half an hour to forty five minutes. I should be done by August 27! I'm pretty excited about it. It's quite a bit thing to tackle, but I'm ready for it. Haha.

My good friend Emily is getting married July 10 and her bachelorette party is this Saturday night. I got my work switched so that I can go. I'm pretty excited. This will be my first bachelorette party. We're painting pottery, going to Olive Garden, opening presents, and then going out dancing. It should be a fun night!

Well as far as I know, that's about it that's going on in my life. Nothing too special, but fun nonetheless. I'm absolutely loving life! :) So thanks for reading.

Love to you all.

Prayers Please!

Hey all.

Just wanted to ask for a few prayers.

One: that us Grigg's girls find a house to live in for next year!
Two: that I get accepted into grad school.
Three: that my knee stops hurting.
Four: that papers and exams get done with ease and quickly.
Five: that God continues to bring joy to me and those around me!

That's about all I've got. Nothing too new has happened. I ran a 5K this past Saturday and broke my "record" from last summer by about a minute and a half. But now my knee is killing me, so that's no fun. We have a little over two and a half weeks left of classes and I've got oodles and oodles to do. Ugh. I groan just thinking about it. But thus is life. So yeah. Keep me in your prayers and you will be in mine!

love to you all.

Hell-O was the title of this week's Glee episode. I just love Glee. It makes me so gleeful! I am such a gleek. Haha! I'm listening to Glee: The Music Volume 1 as we speak and I just love it. Hooray!'s been a while since I've written. So yeah! Not much has changed but I will fill you in on what has.

Spring break was a couple of weeks back. Friday night I went to Hope to visit with Anh and Kim who came as well. Had a fun time!

Saturday and Sunday I put together a photo album of Spain. I'm quite proud of my accomplishment! Haha.

Monday I did homework--what fun. But I also got my hair cut and colored! I got lowlights and bangs. Here's a lil pic of it:

Then on Tuesday I took the train in (by myself!) to Chicago to hang out with Kelly for the day. Then Tuesday night, I spent time with my Uncle John and Aunt Janet. We had a good time.

Wednesday, Uncle John drove me to see Ilona, Simon, and Lukas--which was such a joy:

Thursday I went to a movie with my daddio.

Friday I hung out with Megan, we made lunch and played Wii Fit. Then I went shopping with my mamasita.

Saturday I headed back to GR!

So that was that. Nothing too exciting, but very relaxing!

Since then I have slacked on running--so that is not good. Not good at all. I'm up to four miles but still, I have to be up to 6.2 in a few weeks! Zoiks. I don't know if I am going to still run the 10K. With school and all it's craziness I don't know if I can really commit. But we shall see. I'm hoping to get a good run in this Saturday, but yeah.

School has been ridiculous lately. I had two tests this week, a lab report due, reading and an online post, and an annotated bibliography! PHEW! But Friday is almost here, so that is awesome. Plus the weather has been fantastic--which helps greatly.

Last night, Lo and Rach and I went to Holland to watch the sunset and grab ice cream. That was fun. It was gorgeous. Loved it. It made for a good break for this week's craziness.

Tonight we are looking at two houses for potentially living in next year. Hopefully one that we find will work out! After living in Mark's great house, we are little picky, so that is not good. But yeah. God will provide, so I'm not too worried. Just a little. Haha.

About four weeks til exams, and then GRADUATION! May 22 is coming SO quickly, it's almost insane. Oy.

Thanks for stopping bye and reading. Love to you all.

March Masks

No it's not Halloween or anything, but I am wearing a the green one that purifies your skin! It's great. A great study break for sure.

So what's new with me? Not a whole lot. Last weekend Kels and I built a fort and spent the night in it, so that was fun! Here's a pic of it:

Nothing too eventful in school. I did poorly on some exams that I had, so that kinda sucks but I found a tutor for one of my classes, and I'm just planning on studying harder! But I did get to perform an EEG on a kid in my class for my Brain and Behavior lab, that was kinda neat.

This past weekend, Kathryn came to visit and we had a ton of fun! We went to Big Bob's for calzones and ended up running into my guy friends--so we ate with them. Then we went to see Alice in Wonderland in IMAX 3D which I absolutely LOVED. It was a-freaking-mazing. I want to buy it when it comes out on DVD. It also made me want to reread the books by Lewis Carroll. So perhaps I will do that over spring break. We shall see.

Then on Saturday Kathryn and I went for a 3-mile run. I'm still training for the 10K in May, and that's been going well. The most I've run so far is 3.85 miles so I'm getting there. I joined Calvin's Running Club and I do that once a week, so that is fun.

After the run, we went to Forever 21 and I got a new purse/bag. I'm planning on using it as a combo-purse/backpack. So I am very excited for that. Here's a pic of it for you mom:

Then Kathryn left and I worked on homework and whatnot. Then at night, I curled my hair! It was so fun! I haven't had it curled since Christmas break when Kristen did it. Here's a pic of that too, you can kind of see it a little bit:

Anyways, we didn't really do much last night, Kels and I, but I just thought it'd be fun to do my hair. Haha.

Anyways...I'm almost done with my Western application for grad school. I just have to do a few finishing touches on my essays and format them all pretty-like and then print off some stuff, and shove it all in an envelope and send it on its way! Grand Valley's isn't due until much later so that's nice. My goal is to get Western's out by Wednesday. We shall see.

I think I'm starting to sell plasma again. That should be fun. This is a pic from when I sold plasma my freshman year, totally throwback:

Look at that happy girl with cash in her hand! Haha. I just really need the money. Also, if I'm planning on staying in GR this summer, I had better find a place to work! So that is on my list of things to do: apply for jobs. I don't even care what it is at this point, I just need something (as long as it's not Dunkin Donuts or Kilwins, lol). Man, I also need to find a place to live...ZOIKS! Things are gettin' crazay!

Wellllll...I had better get back to studying for my Developmental Psyc: Lifespan exam tomorrow. Wish me luck. Love to you all.

Girls are Home!

Hey hey there buddy bear. It's me. Just wanted to post a few pics from my NEW CAMERA! Yes I got a new camera. I ordered it from Lapaz, Indiana--from Craigslist. Only $60 and it's pretty fantastical. I am so blessed, my awesome brother paid for some for a birthday present plus he just bought it for me and I owe him the rest! Sweet deal.

Anywho, here's a few pics:

Lo just got home from her interim in Costa Rica!

Kels just got home from her interim in Hawaii!

This is the whole gang, minus Jill who was gone for the weekend.

So there ya have it! There's just a few pics.

Interim wrapped up well. I had to write 10-12 pages of a historical fiction story and that was fun. Then obviously, the girls came home and that was a blast! I missed them so much and it was great to see them again.

Now class started yesterday. I'm enjoying my classes so far. I'm taking three Psychology courses and one English course. Then I'm auditing a Spanish course to keep up on my Spanish that I learned last semester. So yeah, that's been fun!

Life is good. Keep me in your prayers and I will keep you in mine. Give me a call to hang out if ever you want to! I'd love to see you.

love to you all, Emily.

Some Birthday Pictures

Okay so as I mentioned in the last post, it was my birthday this past week Sunday. So (since my camera is gone forever) my dearest mom sent me some pics from the day. And here they are!

This is my new dress!

Me and my parents.

Nikki, Beth, me and my dad.

Me blowing out the candles after making four wishes, haha.

And last but not least, my dearest mom!

Hopefully, one of these days (YEAH RIGHT) I will get a camera, and then there will be more pictures for you to view. Hmm. Who knows.

love to you all.

Some January Happenings

Sooooo it's been a while. Sorry about that. As I sit here in my new Banana Republic silk something cashmere shirt, I am reminded of just how blessed I am to have such giving and loving and kind friends. Not only did they give me wonderful gifts, but they have been such a blessing, through good times and bad.

Okay, enough of that. Let me tell you about my life as of late. Umm...since that fateful Tuesday when I wrote last I feel as though I have not been up to too terribly much. We spent Christmas Eve at my Aunt and Uncle's house. We played Catch Phrase--love that game.

Christmas day was fun. It was me, my mom, my dad, Ben and Kristen on Christmas day. We spent it opening presents, eating good food, and lounging. The way Christmas should be spent.

The Sunday after Christmas we celebrated with my extended family in Chicago. I got to meet little Lukas for the first time, and see Simon for the second time. They are just bundles of joy--LOVED them. :)

Umm...New Years Eve was fun. Spent that up in Holland with Anh and Sarah and all of their Hope College friends. Stayed over night there. Made a wonderful pancake breakfast the next morning.

Then I just hung out with people for the rest of break. Good times, good times.

Sunday after NYE I went straight up to Grand Rapids and hung out with my housemates. Lo and Kels went away for interim so it was sad saying goodbye to them. Lo is in Costa Rica and Kels is in Hawaii. But they will be back next week, so I am looking forward to that.

School started. For interim, I am taking a class called "Boxes of History." I'm not quite sure where the boxes aspect fits into it, but it's a class all about writing historical fiction. We got to spend three days in Chicago doing research. We took the train in, which is always romantic and nice. And yeah--it was a good time. We have to write 10-12 pages of a story and it's been going fairly well. I'm writing about Chicago's 1886 Haymarket affair. Perhaps I'll post it on here if it's not too long, and if it's any good by the time I am done. We'll see.

My birthday was this past Sunday. I turned the big TWENTY-TWO! Crazy. I feel so old. Friday I had friends from other schools over and we went to TGIFridays for dinner, dessert, and drinks. Saturday I went out with five of my guy friends to a sports bar called Queens in Eastown. The guys played pool and I just sat there hanging out with the people who weren't playing pool. Then on Sunday I went to Ada with some people for church and then in the afternoon my parents drove up. They took me to Olive Garden for dinner which is ALWAYS a good time. Then we came back to Griggs and had dessert--mocha torte that my dad makes. Mmm. SO good. It just melts in your mouth. Then yeah, they went home and that was it! I just kinda hung out for the rest of the day. My housemates gave me wonderful gifts (the Banana Republic shirt I was talking about at the beginning amongst other things). But what a grand way to celebrate one's birthday--ALL weekend! And then when the other girls get back from their interim trips, we are going to celebrate again! Hooray!

So since Sunday I've just been working on researching and writing my little story here, trying to get it all down in words. So far I have three pages and the minimum is ten pages, so we'll see how that goes. I'm not feeling very motivated or creative right now, so that is not good. But we'll see. I'm sure I'll get it done at some point. is time to get back to my other writing. Wish me luck. Love to you all.
